Things to Do

(photo credit: Franklin Chamber of Commerce)

Our cabin is located atop a hill in Franklin, NC-far enough in the country to enjoy the quiet mountain nights but close enough to enjoy dinners in town, sightseeing, and shopping for antiques. Nestled in a valley at the home of the Cherokee Indians and at the entrance to the Smokey Mountain National park, the best of nature and history can be enjoyed with access to modern vacation ammenities. Below are links to some of our favorite things to do, see and visit in the area:

Franklin Chamber of Commerce

Franklin's Fun Factory (Family fun, dining, entertainment!)

Smokey Mountain Center for the Performing Arts (top name artists and events)

Great Smokey Mountain Railroad

Cherokee Historical District (Oconaluftee Indian Village, "Unto these Hills" outdoor drama, etc. Harrah's Casino)

Great Smokey Mountain National Park

Ruby City Gems

Highlands, NC (high-end shopping, dining, waterfalls, and hiking)

Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, TN (approx. 1 hour away)

Hiawassee, GA (home of the Georgia Mountain Fair)

If you aren't saving your energy for an afternoon searching for antiques at the Whistle Stop Antique Mall or a mountain hike, a near-by school has a walking trail or you can head into town to walk the Little Tennessee River Greenway.

Biltmore Estate (approx. 1 hr away, Asheville, NC)
